​​Since the 1980s there has been a tremendous increase in the application of composite materials throughout all industry sectors. There is a strong interest by industry in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Stress Engineers who have knowledge and understanding of composite material systems.

This is a five day intensive course covering the essential practical aspects of design for manufacture and analysis of composite materials. The student needs no prior knowledge or experience of composites. At the end of the course the student will have understanding and experience on different composite materials systems, properties, manufacturing methods and will be able to design basic composite laminates based on strength or stiffness requirements. He will be able to make structural stress analysis of the monolithic or sandwich panel laminates using simple hand calculations.

The course designer, Dr. Warren Leigh, started as a Stress Engineer on composites in 1984 whilst at British Aerospace 
and has tailored this course to provide extensive but selective information and techniques to the student that he has acquired over the decades since.
